A/Prof Ayelet Berman serves as the Lead for Law and Governance at the Asia Centre for Health Security (ACHS), where she leads the Centre’s initiatives at the intersection of law, governance, and public health emergencies. In this capacity, she is committed to advancing legal frameworks and policy strategies that strengthen health security in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in the context of pandemics and biosecurity.
At ACHS, A/Prof Berman’s work is focused on conducting in-depth research, producing publications, and developing educational materials that address the evolving legal and governance challenges posed by global health emergencies. She oversees efforts to engage in outreach and events that foster cross-sectoral collaboration, raising awareness and advancing knowledge in the areas of public health law, biosecurity, and synthetic biology. In addition to her role at ACHS, A/Prof Berman leads the Global Health Law & Governance Program at the NUS Centre for International Law. She is a recognised expert in global health law and has contributed to the development of international policies in collaboration with organisations such as the World Health Organization and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
