Professor Hsu Li Yang leads the Asia Centre for Health Security (ACHS). Under his leadership, ACHS is committed to its vision of preparing Asia to address current and emerging biological threats, while fostering regional collaboration to strengthen health security. Guided by the mission to raise awareness and enhance capacity against high-consequence biological risks, Professor Hsu provides strategic oversight to a multidisciplinary team, leading initiatives in research, training, and partnerships across Asia and beyond.
With expertise in infectious disease management, antimicrobial resistance, and global health policy, Professor Hsu has been at the forefront of numerous significant initiatives. As a physician and public health leader, he co-chaired Singapore’s RIE2020 infectious diseases workgroup and has advised the World Health Organization (WHO) on antimicrobial resistance surveillance frameworks. His contributions have also been instrumental in shaping Singapore’s National Strategic Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance, effectively bridging the gap between research and public health policy.
Professor Hsu’s dedication to regional and international collaboration has made ACHS a central hub for capacity-building, policy development, and evidence-based approaches to health security. As Director, ACHS Professor Hsu drives initiatives that enhance resilience to biological threats, guiding efforts to strengthen Asia’s preparedness and fostering a safer, more sustainable future for the region and beyond.
