Lead, Law and Governance
Honorary Visiting A/Prof Bermanleads the Law and Governance programme at the Asia Centre for Health Security (ACHS), where her work focuses on pandemic preparedness, biosecurity, synthetic biology, and AI-bio governance, with particular focus on Asia. She previously led the Global Health Law programme at the NUS Centre for International Law.
Ayelet contributes to international policy initiatives involving organisations including WHO, WIPO, WOAH, and OECD, and serves on the WIPO-ITU-WHO Global Initiative on AI for Health, the WOAH-PREZODE Science-Policy Dialogue on One Health, and the editorial board of BMJ Public Health.
She has published in leading journals including the European Journal of International Law, the American Journal of International Law, Lancet Global Health, BMJ Public Health, and the Journal of Law and the Biosciences, and has co-edited books published by Cambridge and Oxford University Press.
Before academia, she practised international trade law and WTO litigation at Sidley Austin in Geneva. She holds a PhD in international law, and was awarded summa cum laude and the Swiss Network for International Studies Prize for best PhD.
