Preparedness & Response Systems
Introduction
Countries need to have capacities to prevent, detect, respond and recover from health threats. This involves identifying existing gaps, conducting simulation exercises to ensure operational readiness, and having strong and resilient health systems.
Research areas
Establishment of international multidisciplinary collaboration, to develop of better metrics and indicators for countries’ preparedness for and response to global catastrophic biological threat, which will be performed through independent evaluations in Asia.
We support the operationalisation of the World Health Organization (WHO) health systems for health security framework in the Asian region, contextualised to regional and local needs.
Education & training (upcoming)
Simulation Exercises
The simulation exercises will provide hands-on training and feedback to key regional health leaders and strengthen regional and national preparedness against biological threats.
Regional / country-specific technical assistance
To assist countries, states/provinces, cities, or institutions with:
- Event-based surveillance platforms
- PPE stockpiling and use strategies
- Preparedness and response training strategies
- Development of pandemic fund and other donor proposals
Activities
A/Prof Ho presented on Crisis Management Governance and Building a Resilient Health Systems at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Singapore Cooperation Programme Healthcare Management Programme held on 21 March 2024.
A/Prof Ho presented on the topic of Strong Health Systems Contributing to National, Regional and Global Health Security, at the WHO Webinar: Health Systems for Health Security: Integrated Solution, Robust Emergency Management held on 16 May 2024.
A/Prof Ho presented on Public-Private Partnerships in Health Security, at the WHO Technical Meeting: Advancing Health Emergency Preparedness in Cities and Urban Settings on the 14 June 2024.
A/Prof Ho presented on, National Public Health Agencies in Global Preparedness, at the WHO Side Event at the Global Health Security Conference on Emergency Preparedness on the 17 June 2024.
A/Prof Ho attended the meeting that was held on 25-26 July 2024 in Manila as a temporary advisor.
